Duties within student organisations or student representation

Participation in student organizations within LTH and Lund University is something that is outside your education and which is a reason for extending the doctoral studentship.

LTH's guidelines for extension of employment for doctoral students are based on Lund University's guidelines. Adaptations, clarifications and recommendations that apply to LTH are addressed in the document below.

Processing - extension of doctoral employment

Read LTH's guidelines on what you should consider if you take on an assignment or student representation. Below is a summary of the application for extension.

  1. Extension of employment must be initiated by the doctoral student. The form "Request for extension of employment as a doctoral student due to a position of trust in student organisations and/or student representation" is filled in. The form is available at LTHin, see link "Employment" below.
  2. The doctoral student presents the form and other supporting documents to his/her main supervisor. The individual study plan is updated with the number of days spent on assignments.
  3. The doctoral student presents the documentation to the responsible head of department, who approves or rejects it. In case of rejection, a written justification is provided to the doctoral student.
  4. In the event of an approved extension, the head of department, via the department's human resources administrator, registers an extension of the doctoral student's employment in the University's recruitment system. The case is handled as a normal extension of employment as a doctoral student. The signed form is filed by the department.
